Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy (CBT) is focused upon the present versus what may have happened to you a long time ago.  Treatment is usually brief and collaborative in nature with an emphasis upon our thoughts and actions.  By learning to recognize patterns of thinking that are harmful to us we can restructure our thinking in a way that is more helpful.  By learning how our thoughts and actions affect our feelings we can learn to gain control of our symptoms
